Hiking - Walking: Around Felixstowe and Trimley Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny and hot Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Wednesday 12th August - walks *** – Felixstowe and Trimley – sunny and
hot.
Walk 1 – Felixstowe prom.
I had another appointment at Specsavers at 11 this morning which gave me
plenty of time for breakfast and exercises in the back garden, pack a
picnic and unload my windsurfing gear from the van before heading up the
town! Then after a short test which found nothing unto ward Mag and I
continued down past Harvest House to Felixstowe prom which was very
pleasant with a light breeze blowing off the sea making it nice, fairly
quiet too for such a nice day but with some cool waves rolling in it was
nice to see kids having fun in the sea. Then the hard bit as we had to walk
up Convalescent Hill which is always knackering!
Walk 2 – Trimley St. Mary circuit.
We then had a couple of things to do in the Trimley’s which went well
before parking up at the end of Cordys Lane for a pleasant circuit in the
countryside with views down to the River Orwell with the usual buzzards
calling. Then back up to the bench with Orwell views for a yummy picnic but
it was a touch on the hot side!
I went down to Felixstowe dock view point at 6.30 to watch the eclipse and
it was chaos and was lucky to get a parking space and I have never seen so
many people on the beach, I was wowfully underprepared as needed the
special glasses and a filter for my camera so didn’t really see anything
but had some fun taking pics of the people, it then took me 30 minutes to
get home in the traffic jam!
